Personal Selections #1 - Big KRIT
People say that he's bringing the South back, as far as rap music goes. I prefer to say that he's shedding new light on what the South has to offer. Instead of the trap and club bangers we're used to from southern artists, he offers a smoother sound on the majority of his self-produced records. That's not to say that his entire catalog consists of tracks like these, but they're definitely prevalent in his work.
I picked these two because they're actually a pretty good snapshot of his style. My personal favorite is Boobie Miles. It's mainly about overcoming obstacles.
The second one I chose is The Vent, it's almost written in the style of a stream-of-consciousness. Just thinking about life and deceased loved ones, among other things.
I hope you now see the talent that I see in him.

Quotable Verse #4
Decided to take this one out of the vault and throw it up on the blog....dope verse from Drake. Recorded a few years back, and Rebstar dusted it off for his latest single, "Good Life." Definitely one of my favorites right now.
"Look,
I know you miss me, go on admit it, girl. 'Cause everything he doing for you, I done did it, girl. So call me up late, I know you with it, girl, I get a rush from it, knowing you commited girl.
Beach front properties, panoramic views, you could probably catch him in Atlanta with his crew. Plus his whole vibe like candles and a pool, 'cause he's hot, but you notice how he handles it is cool.
The name is Drake dawg, I came here solo. The smell is Dolce, the draws is Polo. The DJ's Future, the clothes is Ransom, the cut's from J-Mac, ya boy is handsome
Pay me now, n***a: cash advance him, y'all don't wanna see me throw no tantrum. We blowing up this year, it's called expansion, now everybody get to dancing to this..." - Drake "Good Life"

Hip Hop Daily Quoteable Verse #3
So, here goes number 3:
"They Larry Davis'd me, and said I tried to kill a cop. Picture that, and they ain't fire not a single shot.
They said I'm guilty, I ain't get the chance to say I'm not. Bail was a quarter mill, they put me in a box.
Ha, dead broke tryna get a bail, calling n***as really knowing they don't give a hell. But I ain't give a f*** 'cause I ain't tryna sit in jail, they givin' n***as letters here, and they ain't sending mail.
I'm talking life sentence, forever nice pendants. This s*** here will turn a man into a nice n***a. This s*** right here will turn a killer to a nice n***a. Cold cell, locked down like a vice gripper.
Lead by my strategy, winning I do sporadically. Try attacking me, automatics shoot automatically. City backing me, headed for it, no looking back at me. Lyrical assault, they charge me without the battery.
Ha, running rebel on another level, like the Olympics, these young'ns just won another medal. They say to get a hundred mill, you must become the devil. If you believe that, n***a you is dumb as ever.
Young and dumb, or either old and stupid. I put my faith in God, never try, I just do it. N***as get down for the moment, they ain't for the movements. My n***a Rozay put me on the tour 'cause I Am Music." - Meek Mill "Running Rebels"

J.Cole = 21st Century 2Pac?
His street-but-conscious, brash-yet-intelligent style, plus his gift for storytelling SCREAMS Tupac to me. I see examples of the parallels within Cole's music constantly. It's really crazy to me how similar they are musically. I hope once Sideline Story drops, people can see that too.
Discuss this with me, if you want on Twitter: @kingdiesel7
Hip Hop Daily Quotable Verse #2
“Ambitious girl, the drive-drive me crazy.
I’m tryna stay with you, lay with you.
I’ll pay your tuition, pray with you, if you ain’t into wishin’.
I’m tryna f**k the s**t out your aspirations, see, the last one I dated, I hated.
We wake up, I go to work, she leave out, come back with some make up, high heels, and a purse, or worse.
I ask, “Babygirl, what you aspire to be?” She reply to me like, “why you perspiring me?”
B***h..
Pardon me if I’m sweating you but, I wanna see something else in you before I invest in you.
Ambitious girl, I’d rather you tell me to hit you later, because you gotta finish a paper, then to be in my face asking for a Rosé cup.
See these b****es can’t cut in yo’ business. I’m in love with your business, and your productivity is the reason I interest.
Ambitious girl, see, I like the person that you are, but I’m in love with the person that you have potential to be.
And all your dreams sharing with me, and your secrets baring with me, and the flaws, you ain’t even got to mention to me.
Ambitious girl, you just wanna win, and you’d rather chase your dreams, then to try to chase these men, that try to chase these skirts, that try to chase these shots with flavors that not even as sweet as her.
My ambitious girl, I wont forget you, I just reflect on how I ain’t met you yet boo.
You somewhere, getting your life in order. So for the time being, I hope this might support her.
Support her, or work her, she worth it.” - Wale “The Ambitious Girl”
